How’s how Aveo Software helped the most successful and high-end restaurant in one of the busiest tourist places use technology to operate efficiently and profitably:

The problem

Even though Cabo San Lucas (sometimes referred to as Los Cabos) is the most sought-after tourist place and Petit Masala is one of the top-rated restaurants in the area, they were losing a lot of money with their current system. This problem sufficed one cold winter night when the founder of Petit Masala, the most favourite Indian kitchen in Cabo San Lucas, was going through their accounts and was unhappy with their account sheet.

The founder met our team with their problem.

After discussing the problem with the team, we analyzed their data and talked to their current customers. Our team found two primary reasons behind losing the money:

  1. They operated traditionally, and their restaurant was open to all seasons. After further analyzing the data, we found they were not making money in the off-season, and their loss offset their net gain in the current season.
  2. There were also more empty tables during one season because of many end-time cancellations.

Talking to their existing customers also helped to find new categories where businesses can make more money: Events and Home catering. After gathering all this information, Our business team approached the restaurant’s founders. After intense discussion and discussing how technology can help them to increase profit and ROI, they decided to operate using a technology platform that can give them more control over their bookings and calendar.

We conducted a deep dive assessment of the problem and came up with a revolutionary technology that changes the way they do business:

  1. Our team developed software that predicts the number of customers coming to their restaurants a day before (based on past data and other information, including weather). Their employee schedule system was also integrated into the online system. This system allowed them to minimize their labour cost, and they could reduce their cost by predicting demand.
  2. The team also ends up developing a real-time calendar booking system for the store, which allows the restaurant to work in a hybrid model (restaurants + catering + events). Based on the data and demand prediction, they will open their calendar for a certain time to get booked for catering and events. They will open up a calendar in advance, and anybody can book it, well, in advance. This allows them to maximize their profit even during the off-season.
